the Gent who owns it paid £1500 to have it rebuilt here at a mini specailist in Zufikon (what a muppet)
and he wanted to PX it for some parts to that value.

Trade-in value I'd say about 4-500, you have to protect yourself....

I know some one who paid a similar amount to a famous Vauxhall tuner/ race preparation company for a gearbox rebuild on his Chevette. It broke halfway up the first practice run of its first hillclimb.
