Fools and Horses is tame and sometimes lame.

The League Of Gentlemen, Psychoville, Little Britain and the wacky Mighy Boosh is best.

Noooo, Only Fools is classic! It's my favourite sitcom. I never got Little Britain, some bits were amusing but most of it, to me, is just vulgar. Mighty Boosh is mega-random :dontgetit:

I've been stationed here for almost 4 years and I'm going to be really sad to be leaving soon, but I have a great little mini to take back with me as a souvenir. I understand the the whole UK/US rivalry, my neighbor and I will sit back and have a few pints and conversation always turns to our differnece. I poke fun at his accent, he laughs at what we call beer in the states (I agree with that actually). I think as long as you understand, at least for us, it's all in fun, you shouldn't get too worked up about it. Even though I do think Clarkston goes overboard on Top Gear a bit ;) . But I understand the "Gotta support British pride and all". He is one of my favorite pictures of my mini.

You at RAFM? Does that Mini have a DSN Classics sticker in the window? I think I saw it at the BXtra awhile back.

Yah, I'm on Mildenhall, but that was another mini you saw....no stickers on mine :D

Hmmm....now that I think of it the one I saw had 13x7" Alleycats on it. Same color as yours though, nearly identical aside from the wheels. My wife is stationed on RAFM, the "Bloody hundredth". We've got a few more years left here and I have some epic plans for my Mini. You a member of any local clubs yet? I'm fixin' to join AME, bunch of great guys and they hooked me up when my Mini broke down in front of the roundabout just before you get on base. We should hang out sometime!

Americans...

You have to look upon them with good grace (like any other ex-colony still finding it's feet).

But we loaned them a perfectly good language and look what they did to it !

Blimey! Yanks are a funny lot aren't they....goody gumdrops of them make a right mess of proper English yeah? Me mates and I were chatting up about the Yanks after we went to the local pub and brought a few pints. Good fun that was! ( <------Sarcasm)

Lol! Seriously I am starting to pick up on how the Brits construct a conversation. No more wool over my eyes! I remember when I first got here I had went to a car dealer and was looking around the car lot with my Son while my wife was in the office filling out the paperwork for the car we were buying. Anyhow, a British man walked up to me and said "kgajrbgabljlk" or at least that is how I heard it. I said "Sorry, what did you say again?" he looked at me strange and said "uioeuroiutoiaup!!!!" this time with an even more determined look on his face. I said "Sorry, I don't meant to sound rude but I honestly do not know what your trying to say"......he looked puzzled and then said slowly "Is there anything I can help you with?" I said "OH! Haha, No I am just waiting for my wife". It's funny how we both speak English but he is the one that sounds foreign....like a completely different language. I think in many cases Americans use the English language more precisely than our British counterparts. Cockney for example can be VERY hard to understand. Like in Snatch where the Brits were trying to understand the Pikeys. We perfected the English Language. At least in my opinion.

I have never seen so many spelling errors in my life! Till I got here! Lol!

Yes but mega random is good, just ask Bec (Verne's Playmate).

I never really got OFAH, although that Rock And Chips prequel thing was okay.

The Mighty Boosh is very bizarre and whilst watching an episode you start to think someone has maliciously given you LSD without you realising. It's not for the faint hearted.

But it's very funny at times too.

Oh and this is the wallpaper that appears on Katy my 18 year old daughters laptop.

Not that I influence her with my music and, TV & film taste of course. Perish the thought because she still hasn't seen every single surviving episode of Dr Who yet.

i dont want to sound rude or out of place here, but it is just accents! i mean, all different areas have their own accent, i cant understand half what my uncle from scottland says to me half the time, but they understand each other perfectly! ours are just a lot stronger, and different to what you guys have in america! doesnt mean their speaking wrong!

i think in recent years the reason brits took the micky out of america is because of that great old man, George W Bush, because he was a right twit!

I built some minis for guys that worked at mildenhall and they have now taken them back to the states.mildenhall is like little america but on our land.Do we have the same setup in your country?.trail of dead.

You have some great stuff in those shops down there.
I made some good friends down there and just because they are american and different to us doesn't really matter.

Well the only thing on RAF Mildenhall that reminds me of home is the Taco Bell on base and the Stop sign by the laundromat, everything else is British. I wouldn't call it "Little America" but I am happy there is a Taco Bell!! I haven't really been out of the house enough to make friends....I never have time. My Son takes all of it away from me, there are a few dudes I get along with but I really don't know them. They could be axe murderers for all I know. It kinda sucks cause I still have roughly 2 years and 10 months left here and I still don't really have a real friend. It has been about 8 years total since I have had a real friend to be honest. Ever since I got married, had a kid and became the stay at home Dad everything has changed. All my friends back home have all moved away, they all work all kinds of hours.....never able to hang out. I'll be 30 years old next year and I only know two people in this country. My Wife & Son.

Before we came here I told myself I would make at least one good friend that was British. Someone that would want to keep in touch even after we PCS back to the states. So far though it seems the fact that I am a "Yank" has become some sort of barrier. I never would have guessed this could happen, it never crossed my mind but it seems to be some kind of obstacle. I just wish I could hang out with someone my own age that is cool and not close minded like some of the people I have met locally. When I went to the Stoneleigh show this past Christmas I had high hopes. I thought "Maybe people will want to get to know me cause I am a member on the forum" after all, there were other TMF members there and they were all having a good time drinking Baileys and eating free chocolates. But that didn't happen for me, I tried to talk to a few members that I didn't already know but they only made me feel like I was wasting there time. I thought we were there to have a good time chatting about Minis! Heck, my wife HATES hearing about them and I have nobody else to talk to. That is why I frequent this forum so much, it is an escape....it is really all I have right now. I work from home, I raise my Son from home...I am trapped in this country for the next 2 years 10 months. Does anyone find it strange that I am keeping track of the time we have left here? My wife has it down to the exact DAY we leave. Prison inmates do the same thing! Lol!

Honestly we just are super depressed here....the Sun never shines, it always rains, the Summers last about two hours then it's fall again. Then there is the whole thing where the days last forever then the nights start at 4PM. It is REALLY hard to get used to, I have an easier time standing in snow waste deep back home than learning how to deal with the weather here. It is crazy! We have talked to people that actually have to go to the hospital once a week for light therapy! They actually got so depressed they need light therapy!!! I am going back home for a visit this coming March. The first thing I am doing is getting some trees and rolling a bone. I'm going to go to my chill spot and partake in self medication by myself and reflect. I can't wait. I need to relax. Then I am going to my cousins house down the road and shred some power chords on my Les Paul (that I have stored at my Mother-in-Laws house). I hope when I come back I can make a friend that is into similar things as me and that LOVES to talk about guy stuff. All I hear about all day is school, crayons, carrots, and milk from my Son and from my wife all that goes on at her shop. I have really short hair but I still want to pull it all out sometimes. I just want to buy a one way ticket to Amsterdam most days. :( (which I am going to before we leave...preferably in November!)

Anyhow, phew! It felt good to let some of that out. It's late, I'm crashing. See you all later on. Sorry for the triple post......I'm not too good at the whole copy and paste feature on forums.

im not a axe murderer, lol but then again ive only talk to you in person one time now, lol

my old bro has a 55 210 post with a gen 6 454, pretty much stock, makes around 500ft pounds at 3krpm's to the wheels, and a 55 belair with a vortec 327, its only doing 400hp, but they make nice daily drivers,
my old 2k gmc x-cab was doing about 400hp to the wheel
my buddy in tx right now has a 03 corba mustang thats putting down 600hp to the ground

im thinking about putting in for another 3yrs here but im not 100% about it yet,
i have a good english buddy, a memeber on the forum here also, lives across the street from me,
i would have probably never talked to him if it wasn't for the love of mini's we have

I once watched Boosh with a few friends, in the early hours of the morning, after we'd been out all night. That was trippy. I actually felt my eyes getting hot :D
