yes I haven't posted for years!
but I still have her and now need advice, I've been hard at study the last couple of years, and now have saved money up for the old girl!
I need to know who is a reliable and quality head builder?
I want a stage 3 fast road head, anyone that immediately comes to mind? roller rockers n all other parts associated...
I want to buy this so I can then get going again with her, as this being a student life is not cheap!
thanks advice greatly appreciated

One company definitely springs to mind after seeing many of their heads/engines. MED.

yes MED are awesome but very expensive, I would definitely opt for them given the choice, I just wanted to know if there is any other companies that are worth considering?

Ok!

Wow it has been an absolute age since I have posted on here...

Summer is still going believe it or not... So after finishing Uni and getting a job (Some time ago now I know), I now have the opportunity to throw some money into it.

Updates:

- Body stripped back again and sandblasted

- New panels on front end (wings bonnet etc)

- Some touch up welding

- Engine 1380cc block is now completed, with the assistance of Southam mini & metro centre

- Interior is currently being worked upon with a predominantly black and aqua piping scheme

- Currently looking for somewhere (West Midlands) to get it painted in Aqua with a black roof

Go to my Instagram to see progress pictures over the last year or so now - lockyerl

Also any recommendations of paintshops around the Warwickshire area would be greatly appreciated?

- Beginning the shopping list of items required for assembly phase

- Interior due back then end of this month

Further Updates:

- Body at paintshop. Problems with the bottom of doors being worse than initially inspected, so been reskinned before going into paint.

- Autosparks harness on order

- New HiLos and Spax dampers ready for subframe build

- Interior completed by JCS Custom Trim - Looks fantastic! highly recommend!

- New steering rack obtained for the shells imminent return

Question? Looking at getting the mini sport complete built drum brakes with superfins, are they good value?

I would check the wheels cylinders on pre built brakes, they usually have 3/4 wheel cylinders but dependant upon which front brakes and master cylinder you have may not be suitable. I needed 5/8 rear cylinders and couldn’t get any full kits with them so bought parts separate and assembled myself.

Ok so since lockdown started pretty much straight after getting the mini into it's new home, I have made quite a lot of progress:

  • Full custom seats, door cards, parcel shelf and dash rails (Black with Aqua piping) from JCS customs. Highly recommend, did an awesome job.
  • Optimise Automotive deluxe carpet set, Bespoke vinyl printed dasboard and rear speaker board
  • H4 Halogen headlights with Phillips Xtrem vision, standard lighting elsewhere
  • WiredByWilson upgraded lighting loom, ICE loom and Savage switch panel
  • Grp 2 black wheel arches with black bumpers
  • Wavy style grille with external bonnet release
  • Numerous finishing touches and small features
  • + More I have probably forgotten...

It goes off for inspection, MOT and rolling road on Monday (15th)

To see pics and videos of the whole thing, see my Instagram or search lockyerl on Instagram.

It has an MOT and is on the road!!! Drove it for the first time in about 11 years and it is wonderful! Going easy on the engine as it beds in and the brakes are fresh but lovely to drive and as fun as I remember

Only niggle is the speedo doesn't seem to want to work, but can sort that out.
