All the big ends should have a bit of side to side movement on the journal... if one hasnt then thats the one with an issue

ok, took all pistons n conrods out and gonna start again and do it slowly making sure it turns over ok one by one. il double check everything again and find out why it's not turning smoothly. see if i can find a problem

ok put pistons in one by one and tried them all individually and the conclusion is that NO.3 is the only one that when torqued up doesn't need to be turned over by a socket on the pulley nut and will go round smoothly just by hand. so now i don't know what to do. does that mean the conrods are warped or something?

cheers mini-mad-craig, i hope to have it done by end of june but this hold up with the crankshaft not turning smoothly is denting my shedule as i'm unsure what to do next with it, if the conrods are locking it up then im guessing it means new conrods, which isnt good, anyone help?

ok, tried again today, put the pistons in with no rings so there was no resistance from that, broke a ring in the process! :-
Posted Image
also found out again that when the conrods are torqued up the only piston that moves freely is NO.3 :)
Posted Image
i noticed a slight nick in the big end on NO.2 which maybe a cause but i'm lost for ideas now as to what it is as it all points to the conrods, whether they got damaged or something i dont know. anyone got any suggestions?

ok conclusion, no.1 and no.4 had the wrong caps on (needed swapping)
although in my defence they were delivered like that so i assumed they would be matching but a check of the grinding marks proved to be useful!
so iv got three pistons in and turning lovely, no.2 still being a pain but i think it just that little nick on the face thats causing that as it's hitting the crank. so iv now got to order some new rings as i got heavy handed and wait for them to arrive before i progress. then i can get on with the timing and what not which is all ready to go.
