Depends what you mean by labour, is the gearbox still fitted to the engine, and you want someone to remove it from the engine and fit supplied parts to the box and then refit to the engine ?

Or just fit the supplied parts to the gearbox, or even supply the parts and fit ?

Hi Guessswork, the gearbox is out of engine already, I mean I will supply all the parts by myself just need the "EXPERT" to break it down to take out the worn parts(as its crunky in second gear) and fit the nesserary parts back.

as i was been told to resemble the gearbox need a lot of "experience" to get it done "properly" and quite possible need to get the parts machined to match. otherwise it will die shortly once on the road again. if that is true, then, that's not something i can do by myself at the moment and want to know roughly how much will be the labour cost by decribed above.

Thanks a lot.

To be honest I doubt supplying the parts yourself will save much, unless you already have them. I'm sure gearbox specialists get a reasonable discount on the gearbox parts and will by them cheaper than you, so even with a little mark-up there will be hardly any difference in parts cost. Also you may purchase something the box doesn't need, or not purchase something it does.

Personally I would send the 'box to Guessworks for a rebuild/recondition dependant on budget - I'm sure the prices for this are on his website. Once he has the 'box for strip and inspection he'll soon tell you if it needs more (or less) work than usual and agree prices accordingly.

You're looking at a standard refurb then, which will be £85 + carriage.... note, if it needs a replacement 2nd gear and or synchro ring then these are considered non-consumable parts which attract a £10 per item charge.

Don't forget a garage will charge a per hour garage rate, and I don't think £160 is unreasonable...
