It's probably been asked before but what is the best primer/underseal to use. I need to get at the surface rust on my sills before too much longer and was wondering what others use. I will be wire brushing / soft grinding wheel the rust back to bare metal in some areas, hopefully will not need to patch anywhere. Was thinking along the lines hammerite primer on metal then covering the whole lot in black hammerite. Or is there something better out there.

Cheers

Etch primer is best but hard to get hold of in a rattle can.

I use hammerite as you suggest. For anything undrneath the car, use under seal too.

on both of my valances and sills, I took them back to bare metal and hammerited them both. Then when I got hold of a colour match for the car, I simply sprayed over the hammerite. It isnt a smooth finish, but its the right colour and you cant see it anyway.
