Its worth only as much as someone is willing to pay, and from this its not hard to see there worth well over the original offer, but your forgetting the buyer would also need two trailers and probably a van aswell as spending a day collecting the items, your not going to find an enthusiast who needs two projects and bits (and the ones who want two projects + bits have no money), instead youll find someone who wishes to make money so will be looking to *steal* the items and make a profit, so either live with that, or put some work in (clearing the area around the items etc) and sell seperately.

Yup I agree with Nick, after seeing the pictures I can see where the offer is coming from and it is an honest offer considering the condition.

£600 = fair offer

I also agree! with the offer, there is a lot of background work involved in relocating mini's for a trader, including time away from the everyday work, or it involves working after hours (for me thats everyday) we need to make a living, and yes we do make money but thats what has to be done to keep the original mini on the road.

It is good to read these mini's have the chance to be saved, most slip through the net and miss both us traders and the home restoration people, and simply get weighed in for scrap, each one that goes like that only pushes the price of the next one up and the parts to repair it.

So each mini left in the world will increase in price (faster) that could be a good thing to most people, but it only pushes out new mini lovers / fans and our community fades away, this is happening faster and faster each day.

That's not what the topic was about though, surely? The question was "is £600 enough for this", not "how much would a trader pay for this". I agree with Guessworks, if it IS an offer from a trader, there are lots of other things for them to consider ... but the price that you will get will never be what it's actually worth.

It depends on how desperate they are to sell & how easy they want it to be - But IMO, I think it's worth taking the time to sort through it all and split it ... even with the time involved.

Anywho, just my opinion.

As far as I can tell someone has contacted a trade dealer to ask if they would be interested in buying 2 minis and load of spare parts.

That dealer has made what he believes is a 'fair' offer.

A friend of the person is now saying to his friend that this price is a bit too low and has now posted a thread on the horum to get further opinions.
Some members have agreed with the £600 offer, others have disagreed.

This is life......and this sort of thing goes on even when buying a new car.......how many times have you been saddened/offended/disappointed with what the garage value your car at ??

I cant open the pictures so I wont commet on the actual ofer price.........all I can say is that there is an offer of £600 on the table with a no-nonsense sale where everything is taken away in one day. Job done. Everyone happy.

The other option your friend has is to sell everything seperately......be prepared to be messed around, let down, haggled to the enth degree, put up with all the silly questions from non-genuine and genuine interested buyers. He might then achieve more than the £600 offered but like GW said - this is his time, his effort, his risk, his money.

So to end is now an episode of DEAL of NO DEAL ????????

Either way good luck with the sale

This is one of those deals that you hear about and think"Wow, why am I never offered stuff like that??"

However looking at the pictures then you kinda see why, theres a lot of stuff there that hasn't been stored properly and will need a lot of work to complete.

Just getting them out of their hidey hole in one piece will be a challenge.

Yes as breakers they are worth more, thats fairly obvious, if the seller had made more of an effort to present them better then that would have helped.

When stuff is sold as a job lot its usually at a reduced price for a quick and easy sale.

I'm assuming that the other stuff mentioned has been stored just as badly?

An interesting thread, but as Classic Mini Dealers I was offering my thoughts and advice based on my commercial experience. Any restoration be it Mini, or a house even, can tend to go considerably over budget so my comments whilst considered by some to be harsh are based on many (too many some may say) years of being in the automotive sales and marketing industry.

We are often asked to restore a Mini, but as you all know these little blighters often reveal a hidden agenda once the strip down has commenced. Commercially it is more often than not, cheaper and less stressful to buy a finished article.

I personally consider, from the pictures I have seen, the Cooper is an uneconomic project. The other parts whilst desireable in theory, but useable without serious money being thrown at them? .... Who knows.

The point I want to put over is this, everything that glistens is not always gold!

Uneconomic for a dealer or as an individual? A dealer will have to factor in labour at £xxx per hour, whilst an enthusiast will not.

I cannot comment on that, only the lucky buyer can answer that question once he has started the project.

First view of this topic, and I would say the cars are worth around £500 each, considering both the rarity, but also the fact that both have obviously been standing uncovered for some time, and almost every component especially at ground level will be almost beyond reasonable repair. If someone is looking for a mk2 Cooper, they may well be willing to pay alot more for it, same applies to the van, but a vehicle in any state is only worth whatever the customer is willing to pay! in some peoples case that's not much, for others it can be well above the average. Traders will always aim low, just because of the effort involved, as said above. A friend of mine who restores classics has offered some old guy £150 each for 2 mini vans, I personally would be quite offended to be offered that amount, but his aim is to make money, not have something to build and enjoy in his own time, unlike a private buyer.

I would say the lot is worth around £800 to £1000. If the seller needs them gone, it may make more sense to accept £600 rather than leave them standing and deteriorating, whilst holding out for "the right price".

Had a good look.Sell seperate cars and rare spares are worth a single sale per part.If the cars were mine i would take the £600 if they had both.
