Right my clutch has been a bit rubbish since the err racetracks I went around this year. I havent driven for about 3 weeks and now the clutch has siezed up. I cannot press the pedal down. What parts do I need to give it an overhaul. I would like to maybe uprate the clutch so it is a bit sturdier but still not a pain to drive on the road you know..

What sort of parts do you recommend?
How easy is this to do?
anything should look out for?
You know the drill!

Thanks for any help people

Car is 96 SPi

master's are not cheap, but fortunately it is normally the slave which seizes...

As for upgrading... firstly, if it's a verto clutch then there's absolutely nothing you can do, other than putting in a turbo clutch which is about as much use as a chocolate teapot... so you need to convert to a Diaphragm Clutch...and that's a whole different story...

On a diaphragm clutch there are different types of spring weightings... Blue ( std road ), Orange ( road/track), Grey ( race ) and double grey ( serious race )... couple that with the different plates you can have, ranging from std, through to bonded, and finally sintered paddles.

Your general combination for your fast road, trackday car would be an Orange diaphragm, and a bonded clutch plate. That combination will cost you 70 -80 groats.

May be unlikely, but could the clutch arm be seized?
