Got some strange goings on with my car, it needs a rr but the problem is i dont think my car will get me to minisport.

I was driving around for awhile to day and my car was being its usual untuned self. But the further i drove the worse it became, it would not pull at all in 4th or any other gear for that matter, then after i found out where i was (i got lost lol) i jumped on a motorway and i couldnt get my car over 55 and when it did the entire car was shaking and sounding generally poor, not to mention my vaccum gauge stayed in poor all the time i accelerate now.

Any ideas. Its a 998 with a stage 1 kit... is it to do with fueling timing or both?

On another note my fuel filter was near enough empty even though the car was running... any idea why it doesnt fill up?

Well if the vacuum gauge is reading poor, it could be an air leak in the inlet manifold, either that or you have your throttle flat to the floor! :nugget:

If you are concerned about the fuel not coming through as it should, it could be a worn out fuel pump???

Even when my foot aint to the floor it goes to poor easy, ill check for an air leak that could be a possible cause.

Also my fuel pump is mechanical, i thought they split rather than wear out? Or can they wear out?

Get your compression checked. I had the same problem on a mini I was driving a few weeks ago and much like you... could not get past a certain speed. I checked the compression and found that the #2 cylinder had minimal compression.

If you find this.. pull the head off and check the valves and cylinder by putting oil in both sides (head upside down) and in the cylinder that had no compression. Make sure that you mark the level of oil. Common sense is that whichever side the oil leaks through (may take hours or even overnight).. is the bad side and wil need replaced or repaired.

Hopefully in your case it would be a valve if it is that deep of a problem.. mine was bad piston rings. Good luck.

Well its not my rings as its a recon head and everything was checked. Im not loosing any oil either except from the gearbox :S

All the components like the head and engine are ok and it does have good compression. Im going to give it a look over today, could be an inlet leak as has been suggested as i can hear induction roar at times. Ill let you know what its like after ive done more work on it.

Check your dizzy and rotor arm etc.

I had a similar problem where the engine was very flat(no scare factor at all) Checked these and cleaned them and it was scary again!

I now have new one sand am about to check it out for scariness again!!! LOL

Well ive been out and worked on it. Found my exaust bolts wernt tight enough anymore but ive done that and my vaccum gauge is better now. Also can now replace my dizzy and rotor arm as its been destroyed by my electronic ignition but ive fixed that so ill replace it and see how it goes. Still lacks power up hills but ill keep at it.

Here is the update. Drove it to work this morning and everything was well (Except idle was too low he he kept stalling until i just got a bit warmer). The gauge is reading better figures now, not in poor all the time. Acceleration is better than it was but not perfect but it still sucks up hills. Will need to get it rr.

Thanks for your help.
