Quick question!

How much do you think I could fetch for a 998 mini engine (with 998 on the block) bored out to 1275cc? A price range from lowest to highest would be nice :D

Thank you in advance,

Rossyboy

Hmmm well we measured the bore on it and according to the haynes it was the same as a 1275 on a 998 block, and it shifts like a 1275?

Yea, it was sold to us as a 998 but Ian said it was too fast, and after removing the cylinder head we measured the bore and according to sir haynes it measures the same as a 1275, and we had to get a head gasket to fit a 1275 because the 998 one was too small

Well there the problem right there, you let your dad near it!!

I think you may just have a 1275 lump. Have a look at the back of the engine, behind the exhaust manifold are the tappet covers. On a 1275 these are cast into the block, on a 998 they a seperate covers that bolt on.

A 998 engine no will start 99h and a 1275 will start 12h. Also have a look at the head, there wil be a number somewhere near the centre. For a 1275 this will be 12g940.

Just because it has timing covers dosn't mean it's a 998
