Over the past week or so I've polished and balanced my conrods (not perfectly polished nor perfectly balanced but they're better than before, and I have 1 rod I'm scared to take any more material off of!) and now this week I'm going to get the whole lot (block, crank, flywheel/clutch, damper, rods etc..) off to the machine shop for a complete balance, +20 thou bore and a chemical clean. Oh and a crank regrind +10 thou.

 

Getting things moving now! Needs to be ready and ran in ready for L2B in May, and I must say it's going to plan.

previous owner had bonnet & doors resprayed, but not matching the rest of the car!

 

short term solution to disguise the problem until such time as I find some cash or grow up!

Installed my Fletcher LCB that i picked up at the show. nice to no longer have an exhaust leak.

Painted my block, ready for assembly now!

fitted the bonnet stripes, fitted the back wing cooper transfers. gave the wiring loom in the boot a tidy up.

Ordered a really long list of parts that have needed replacing for a while and finally booked its MOT. Changing some tyres tomorrow, and new alloys should be arriving sometime next week with any luck. every light on my mini is gonna be smoked or replaced, and when it's bonnet & roof repsray happens (a weeks time) bonnet straps and all the vinyl stuff will be put on :)

Big day today: the engine fired up for the first time in over seven years!

Finished fitting a new ported head, high lift rockers and upgraded the timing chain to a vernier one. Runs very smooth now and more powerful.

Then the rad cap decided to fall apart and ruin my fun for the day!!

Yes, yes they are. I've gone a little silly on it actually, brought most things they offer haha. The wife just rolls her eyes as I pass her the credit card bills haha.🙄
Doing a few bits in the engine bay too, so will have plenty of pictures to share.
