For the first time since early 2010 I went out for a drive in my mini for no real reason.

The rebuild of my car started early last year it has only done a few miles but today I went out for a proper drive to give it a bit of a shakedown. I did 75 miles and I only had to stop to reconnect a speaker wire to the amp.

I seem to have an issue that when I flash the main beam the radio cuts out but if thats all I've got to sort then I'm very happy.

I have the exact same issue with my radio!

Fitted idler bearing and first motion race to transfer case, and fitted idler bearing to gearbox case. Cleaned up main caps and measured the newly ground crank, pleased to say it's bang on spec. Trial fitted crank but need to re-fit after measuring my thrust washers so I know what I need to buy to set the right end float.

Minispares ones? I think I remember seeing something about that to.
Lucky I have a set of ARP studs I was saving for a race motor. Guess I'll use those.
Sometimes feel like we get sent the rubbish items cause we're on the other side of the planet. It's not the first time. Paranoia maybe lol

Removed some bits from the engine today ready for cleaning up and painting. I want to paint the engine gold to contrast against the black bodywork. Stripped off the paint from the top of the radiator for polishing.

Replaced drivers side rear knuckle joint as the car was sitting rather low on that corner. Could find absolutely nothing wrong with the old one, yet with the new one fitted it sits perfectly. Identical type of knuckle joints too. Weird!
