Engine should be back in and run by months end, will have an update on it’s performance then. It’s a beautiful piece of kit. Everyone that’s seen it wants one ha ha

Done a compression test on our 998 and my estate, good figures considering the age and mileage on both.

Test performed on cold engines with throttle closed and plugs removed... I didn't do wet tests

My estate (1275 with approx 55k miles) was 160 on all 4 pots

The 998 with an indicated 104k miles has varied readings

#1 was 130
#2 was 145
#3 was 150
#4 was 155

I think the readings may be slightly low but both engines need a decoke and valve grind

Took Percy out for approx 60 mile drive around Leicestershire’s country roads - where I found out my new water pump, hoses and rad have a leak somewhere with me have to top up the rad when I stopped at the various pubs.

Only had to top with about a pint each time as seemed like then water was being held everywhere other that the rad itself

Took delivery of a new brake servo. Had a bit of a nasty experience the other night on the way home from a pub meal when the brakes went a bit strange. Checked the fluid level the next morning and it was empty :ohno:  Went round all the cylinders and pipes with no sign of a leak - pulled the vac pipe off the manifold and brake fluid dripped out, probably the cause of the slight burny exhaust smell I get with the windows open. New servo to be fitted tomorrow.

Removed a few more patches from drivers footwell / flitch, fettled the replacement half floor. Clearly the repair of choice through 80's, 90's & 00's was to just go over the top of previous repair. 4 thick in places.

I like the anti theft feature built in to this - I was going to get a 123 for my new engine - looks like this may be the one

I refitted the front subframe using new bushes and mounts, then clamped on the new n/s inner wing. It's going to take me a while to be sure of the new wing alignment. If only it came with the hinge holes...
