I have the JCW kit, and a 3.1 or 3.2 final drive. (I forget).

The standard 2.7 final drive was quite nice actually, but it really hurt the acceleration and you had to drive it quite hard to get anywhere. I felt you had to rev it too much and slip the clutch just to pull out of a junction. I.E No torque.

Once I switched that she was perkier but still flat below 2.5k.

The 274 Cam has really woken the car up.

The original cam was not worn at all so it wasn't that affecting the power delivery.

by the way, I've never driven a non JCW MPi to compare.

Is that the Minisport JCW kit? There's no cam included so have you added a cam as well?

No, it's the official one, from when the JC Garages were operating.

Yep, I added the cam later.

The kits today seem expensive for what they are. Once you get rid of the guff, they're essentially: reworked head, rockers, exhaust.

Got a delivery from Minispares.

Sorted through the bits and decided what order I need to fit them.

First thing is to remove the rusted bulk head plate. That's holding everything up at the moment. Are they bolted in through access hole under the dash?

Also need to get hold of a set of star sockets, as the thermostat housing bolts are ARP star headed bolts.

Fixed the non-reading tacho thanks to a search thread on here! Wiggled fuse 3 and up it popped. Hadn't noticed the heater blower and wipers weren't working too.

Finally have heat in the cabin.

Heater matrix had rotted through from standing. Changed the matrix. Still no heat. Thought there might be an air lock, so rigged the hose up. No flow at all......

Took the heater valve out from under the dash, and it was absolutely chock full of silt. FULL!

All sorted.

Finally got around to doing the wiring on the new 20psi low oil pressure light and the new oil temp gauge.

Also changed the non-working rad cable and sticky choke cable. All the dash, cards and switch panel out... that was not a fun job! Now complete :proud:
