Remove old carb and inlet manifold (not so easy if you have the original cast manifold, as exhaust and inlet are attached);

Put on new carb and manifold;

Connect up throttle, choke and fuel;

Get fuelling set-up.

if you have had electronic ignition fitted you won't need the vacuum pipe, must a note because they connected it on mine after the ignition was fitted and when it was tuned by a different specialist they removed it.

I'm sorry but that's not remotely true. The electronic ignition simply replaces the points and condenser most of the time. The guts of the distributor including the vacuum advance are still required to map the spark timing in most types of electronic ignition systems.
If you have had an ECU system fitted which includes a throttle position sensor for load calculation that's a different matter but straight electronic ignition still needs the distributor to rotate the baseplate in order to move the sensor around the spindle and therefore advance or retard the ignition.

hijacking this thread, sorry, Dan should i reconnect the vaccum advance pipe then? it was cut off by a guy at northern mini's when on the rolling road, who took it from 61bhp to 68bhp @ wheels. What difference will having this disconnected make?
