Looking good chap.
1 thing I would advise is to take the subframe once your finished with it along to where you plan on MOT'ing it and let them have a look over it. That way anything that they aren't happy with is easy to resolve now rather than when you put it in for the MOT

As the ONLY person known to have blown an SEH 8V up on the Runcorn Bridge , I'd suggest taking the sump off and checking all the big ends, and replacing the conrod bolts. Apparently Vauxhall had a bad quality about 1992-1994 and the first thing you know is the starter motor being detroyed by the conrod.

Cheers for the advice.
Bit of an update:
No living room is complete without an engine hoist:
I had to take the rear subby off to fit the return fuel line. Got that done now so the fuel tank is all ready to go in. Got the wiring for the pump done too.
Next thing to do is to finish off the front subframe then bolt it in and get the gear linkage sorted out.

Looking good!!
Did you buy the hoist?
The engine and subframe are looking great
The missus is away this weekend so I'll be spending 25+ hrs on the car... Hopefully get the cage welded into position this weekend
Have you made anymore progress on the gauges??
Did you get the graduation letter? I ain't going, are you?

No I'm not going to the graduation either, went straight in the bin! I borrowed the hoist from work, just got it across the back seat of the beamer (sticking out the window a bit)

So far the conversion has probably cost about £900 but I've made money back on selling the old engine and front end and a few other bits and pieces. I reckon it will be about £1500 by the time I'm done.

Finished the subframe and engine mounts now. Re-made the rear engine mount aswell.
Got the subframe offered up to sort out the gear linkage:

Made a bulkhead box and welded it in but got the hole a little too high up so the clamp on the gear linkage fouled on the bottom of the hole in 2nd and 4th gear! So i made another plate with a hole in it and re-positioned it, then welded a box behind the lower part of the hole upto the floor.
I now have 5 selectable gears! Next job is the clutch and brake cylinder i think.

Linked up the clutch, seems to work quite well and was really easy to bleed.
Also got one driveshaft in:
Need to modify the other vaux cv joint for a wheel speed sensor before I can put the other side in. Should receive a nice "Blue Drift Iridium Speedometer" tomorrow.

Time for bit of an update! Had bit of a break from the mini over the winter as I had to put in a new kitchen. Been busy on the mini since early spring and now I've just got it on the road and MOT'd!!! It's not finshed yet, still got tons to do but it's nice to be able to drive it after being off the road for over a year! Here's some photos from the last few months.....
Trigger wheel pressed on inner CV joint. Steel cylinders pressed into an alumium ring:
Trial fit of the fibreglass front end:
Got the engine running and tried out the gears in the garden.
Front end fitting a bit better:
Alternator mountend. I ended up moving the alternator a bit higher up and closer to the engine so it didn't foul on the front.
Sprayed the front

Got the brakes painted up and fitted
Lights in
The First Trial Run!!! All went pretty smoothly, the wheel wern't aligned so it was bit of a handful but a lot of fun! The noise is awesome. Quite difficult not to wheelspin!
New Exhaust in the making:
Coil mounted.... I also mounted air horns, MAF sensor at the same time but don't have any photos yet, will get some soon.
Speedo mounted and tested, pretty cool. I've only made a quick tempory dash at the moment for the MOT, will make a new dashboard before too long.
Passed the MOT first time!!!! Yay! Then about an hour after pssing the MOT i drove it to London and back to chippenham! Bit of a long first run bit it went without too much drama. The bonnet is a bit flexible and bent up at the front a bit and has cracked a bit now. I'm going to have to re-enforce the bonnet with a bit of alumium L section and some fibreglass.
The Power is amazing! So fast, really pleased with the result. Still need to respray the A-panels and scuttle and got a huge list of other jobs to do!
