I had a problem with my focus a couple of months ago, when i pressed the brake pedal the dash lit up as if i had turned my lights on. I took it to a garage and they just replaced a faulty bulb, sorted.
very strange problem

electric is lazy, it will find the shortest posable route home (earth) to the battery
check
bulbs - blown, wrongly fited, lose, corrosion or just the wrong ones
fuses - blown, wrongly fited, lose, corrosion or just the wrong ones
wires - conections are sound, corrosion or breakes in wire
earth points - lose or corrosion, even if they look ok clean them!!!!!
any wire that is attached to the vehcile body is an earth
i had a prob with my indicators a wile back
tured out to be the fuse was lose
fell out once, no lights at 60mph in the dark on a twisty B road

just letting everyone know i fixed the problem...
i hadn't noticed that while swapping and changing bulbs a few days before, i had swapped a reverse(or indicator) bulb, with single contacts, with the bulbs for the stop/tail lights, which obviously have two contacts!!
knew it'd be something simple!!! lol
thanx for all the help guys!
