It passed the MOT!!! I have uploaded a short video of my first drive on the road. Its pretty quick. I have set the rev limiter to 5k rpm, its easily hit and you can hear it bounce in the video. Click here!

A pic taken at the test centre.

coming along now
so your not opting for dry decked then if you already had the head skimmed

Nope not going for the dry deck option, dont really see the point as i dont do that many races as its my weekend car. At the end of the day if your head gasket goes in a race or the road you still have to replace it & at 150 quid a pop, i dont intend to go through any. I guess there is cooling advantages with the ability to get more water and oil in and out again but still dont see the point, in unnecessary cost for dry decking it. Unless there is something im missing out on???

I am sure its the other way round, if you dry deck it you can use a standard gasket like the bk450, if you dont you have to use the expensive gasket, put a post up on EFI as i may be wrong.

nice job ! :)

Hi Velocuaz,

The car is an historic vehicle, registered in 1971 it is therefore exempt from emission testing in the UK.

Can i ask why youve set the rev limit at 5k? Surely you can hit that in 4th?

Its been a while since my last post. Im now working on other non mini projects.

I have attached a couple of pictures with information in that I had missed out when writing the up my build progress. The information is worth knowing when converting a BMW K1200 rs head.

Really nice work, the bonnet is the only thing putting me off these conversions though! Hmmm would need to find a way around it..

I saw a guy at the Uttoxeter show who had built a 16v a series engine. He used an auto sub frame so the engine could be mounted lower down by about an inch and forward by about 1/2 and inch (auto frame is wider).

He didn't have to change anything apart from fitting some packers under the lower bump stops to prevent the suspension from dropping too much and allowing the drive shafts hitting the sub frame.

He didn't have an modifications to his bonnet. The only body modification was to shave a small amount of the slam panel to get his air filters to fit.

Hi all,

Happy New Year! My first post of the year.

I had a few weekends free recently so I decided to fit the fibre glass dash I brought years ago from Zcars.

I also rebuilt all the gauges following this link - http://www.74tr6.com/gauges.htm

Will complete the fit next weekend :D What do you think?
