Plans To Do A Pro Motive Build In New York

Hello everyone my name is Douglas I live in long island new York and love motorcycles and currently own a 1981 mini that I bought 3 years ago I was planing on buying a motorcycle but my wife doesn't agree with me so thinking of doing a bike engine conversion but don't know around about how much this would coast me to build in us dollars if anyone could give me an idea on how much u have spent I would highly apreciate you're help and time I am a auto painter and I'm pretty handy with mechanics I have pulled out the engine in my mini before on my own and regasketed it I don't know if I would have to know alot about mechanics to do this build I really enjoy minis and motorcycles and y not have the best of both worlds so if any of you could tell me what is needed and what parts I will need to look for to make this build happen please help thanks again everyone

hi, my mini cost me about £10,000 in parts to build but this included every thing new, including body panels, brakes, wheels, suspension, trim, interior, i got 2002 r1 for free though so this helped keep costs down a bit. i too are a vehicle body repairer and found conversion easy but fiddly to do, only part i did not do myself was the wiring, but if you not good with wiring promo will convert loom for you, oh and i sold two bikes to fund this mini a vespa and a buell and now mini up and running dont miss them one bit.

Ok so in dollars that's about 20k yea I would just want to do the coversion and suspention

Have a look at pro-motive. They will offer a subframe you could mount an r1 engine into. They'rethe cheapest option unless you're making it yourself

Fully Road Legal and registered in Michigan.

2003 5PW 998cc Yamaha R1 engine, data logging puts power at 175BHP.

Full Safety Devices cage with harness bar, door bars, and seat back bar brace, matching Schroth Rallye ASM 4pt harnesses.

Force Racing TI centerlocks and three piece 10" wheels with Yokohama A032 rubber, 8.4" vented KADs front, Minispares Alloy front flanges, Fuel Safe FT3 cell. Full rose jointed adjustable front suspnesion lower arms and tracking bars (Minitec).

Full Aeroquip / Goodridge braided brake lines, KAD bias box / Girling masters with interior adjuster as well as hydralic proportioner, AIM Mychron3 integrated steering wheel / dash / data logger with speed, RPM, water temp, oil pressure, Gyro for lateral acceleration, fuel level, Odometer, and warning lights for all.

H3 / H4 Halogen headlights with integrated 5W parking lights, LED blinkers front, Minimania LED tail lights and blinkers, with flashing stop light system. Self cancelling indicators via steering wheel buttons, LED indicators on dash for left and right indicators, as well as high beams.

Master batter cutoff, and switches to control fuel pump, ignition, horn, headlights / dip, electric fan, wipers (2 speed Minimania conversion kit), and washers. Push button start. Custom wiring based on Painless kit, with integrated system fuse (80A) and fuse box for all circuits. Odyssey PC545 battery.

Curley carbon removable full front, doors, door inners (weave showing), boot floor (weave showing), and dash (weave showing).

Carbon Weezel (weave showing) carbon bonnet, boot cover, parcel cover, rear bumper Mk1 Lotus Elise seats, Power Commander USB with custom map, Quaife LSD, GAZ race fully adjustable coilovers, front subframe to scuttle brace bar, rear alloy beam axle, KAD alloy swing arms, rear Superfins.

Maniflow twinbox 2" exhaust, ceramic coated 4-into-1 hearder - full up weight 1060lbs - very light weight Mini!

350 miles on factory new 2003 YZF-R1 crate engine (5PW Fuel Injection). Alloy twin core radiator and electric fan, Redline synthetic race oil, Motul brake fuid, Evans NPG-R non-water / no pressure coolant with alloy overflow tank. Engine was properly and fully run in.

Full 4 wheel alignment and corner weighted for fast road / track days. Two track days, no issues!
