IGN and OIL on my centre speedo

Check for air leaks around the carb, adjust mixture and check pipe for any blockages which may have got in during changing.

:dontgetit:

Registering the car as SORN is pathetic mate. It will take you a day at the most to get it sorted!

Im not sure how much fuel line you need, Wheather its right from the petrol tank or not.
But get yourself on

www.minispares.com
www.minisport.com

Or any other mini website.

Get yourself a new fuel line. It will be delivered within a day or 2.
Spend a day fitting it properly.
And while your at it. Why not buy yourself a Haynes manual and learn the basics of a car! :dontgetit:

I think the signature say's it all. Mini's need a little TLC now and then and a calm person to work on them. It is no good taking short cuts as you ahve already found out. Fit the right part in the right place and all should be hunkydory.

This may seem off the wall, but check your battery cable from the battery to the front of the car, especially the point where it goes past the exhaust at the back of the front subframe...

Maybe nothing but all of the above could well mean that it's shorting out against the body/exhaust and would cause all of the symptoms you are describing...

it is bolted on to the carb. take the 3 screws off and lift he lid off, it should be 3/4 full of fuel. I had the same problem as you a while back, it turned out to be the fuel filter. try taking it off and see what happens from there.

i will definatly have to try that. i'll take my car to college one day and use the life of just jack it up when the wethers a bit nicer. because it bloody freezing today. althought the car started. i used one of those battire things. er...don't know what thier called but you use then to jump start. ran fine. ahtlough it did die once when i took off the handbreak which makes no sence what-so-ever

the other pipe coming from the float bowl is just a vent. it just goes down the back of the engine bay and spits out any excess fuel from the bowl.
