Evening All, hope all are well!

Right, whether it be in my mini when it gets repaired or if i have to send this one back and get another one i would like to know whether anyone thinks my plan is feasible! :

Well basically i want to put a turbo diesel in a Mini! Why you might ask??? Well i reckon in a mini it would be proper, loads of torque, excellent for motor way crusin and overtaking and i like diesels!

I dont know if anyone has done this or not but if they have let me know, also i dont know what would fit, would like a 1.8TD out of a 218SLD but i think that would be too big a lump, maybe a 1.6TD from a fiesta or a 1.4TDI from a Lupo or something small!

Any help would be much appreciated

Many Thanks
Matt

Yes, i've always wondered about something like this but i dont know anyone that has done it. Wouldn't it be great to have a VW TDi engine in there with gobs of torque!!

As you say, there probably isnt enough room for one, especially in the front, but maybe in the back would fit??

One problem with that, however, is that diesel engines are extremely heavy compared to petrol engines so the handling would be all to pot...

Maybe heavier but with lowered, harder springs may work. I think the VW lump out of the lupo may fit somewhere! But not sure how it would work with all the electronic gubbins, another thing is that you could chip it up as well!

I tell you what, if you put the motor out of my VW 888special Transporter in a mini, it would go like the absolute clappers. The torque is huge. Enough to do most hot hatches from 0-30 and most everyday sallons every where else and it even sound nice. Thing is, my van ways nearly 2 ton. Great fun I think

yer we have a 2.5tdi 109bhp chipped up to 157bhp 1200 LWB Transporter and we have had 127mph out of that and it is well quick to 60 BUT not as quick as the 2.8TDI Lt46 202bhp (chipped, air filter, etc!) which actually does 0-60 in 7.2 secs, not bad for a 4.6 gross weight van! LUVLY! Imagine that in a mini

There was someone on here looking to put a TD into their van, the other choices are the small 1.4 PSA diesels ( Pug/Citroen ), but I think the 3 pot charade is the favourite as it is tiny

sorry mark didnt see your post :erm:

Yer would be slightly big for a mini, but imagine if it could fit - OR Imagine if you could fit a 5.0 V10 Diesel VW engine, now that would be nice! Sorry im getting silly now!

The 1.4TDI from the mk6 fiesta is a nice lump...not sure how big or heavy it is, getting rid of all the poop from around the mk6 engine bay would make a big difference!
