dosen't matter where you get them from but i found Machine mart to be really good!! Also you can get "plasma" discs that are even thinner and create less waste!

I can definatley recommend using ear protection angle grinders are noisy little buggers. I just bought a Mckeller? from focus for around 16 quid came with loads of free grinding discs, got the cutting discs from screwfix.

also when cutting off the front end of a mini with engine in, it is a good idea to drain the car of petrol and keep a bucket of water handy just incase a fire manages to start.

Draper 4inch grinder for £20, working excellent for cutting the front off mine. Cutting and Grinding discs a pound each. Ear Defenders £10, Gloves £1 a pair, Plastic Glasses £5. And wear long sleeves!

Heed the advice of Stormduck and Bungle. NEVER work without your safety gear.

Don't laugh about the ear protection. When you're working up close on a panel the sound is literally "deafening". For future reference... the rule of thumb for all radiant energy (heat, sound, radiation) is that the intensity drops of by a factor of four when you double your distance from the source. When you're right at the panel, your ears are dangerously close to the source. Once damaged your hearing won't come back.

Likewise, it's better to dent your hands than cut them. Heavy leather gloves are a must as are safety glasses or a full face shield.

I typically throw a heavy canvas tarp over all the surfaces I want to protect. The debris removed in grinding is molten and can imbed itself in glass without any effort.

As for brands, your choices will be different than mine. However, to a "T", everyone I know who's bought cheap Chinese angle grinders regrets their decision... or has bought three or four over the course of a project. I buy Bosch but Makita, Hitachi, and Milwaukee are also good brands if you have them available.
