Towing?

ok people,
rather large problem now and i'm going to have to push my car 1 or 2 maybe 3 miles if not.
how do i tow a mini if it has no tow ring on the front. i have to get my mini to the garage and it's at a friends house at the mo until i can get it there. i've tryed to make it go. i've tryed doing to point but now the battire is flat.
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS MINI HELP!
that and i don't want to push my car all that way.....again

if it's an emergency, and you know the person towing you will be GENTLE -tie the tow-rope around one of the tie-rods
Done this before to one of mine with no ill-effects, after the towing eye kinda fell apart on me :nugget:

as above.... round the front of the tiebar, but would recomend a line to both to even out the pull.. remember you will have to use the brake in the car so give yourself a decent length and also mark the rope so other road users can see it..

the bar that round bit with the rubber bit that go's throught the sub-frame right??

yes, they go from the bottom arm to the front of the subframe

ahhh, thatnk you all. i can tow my mini now. get it to the mechanic were he can fix it. i really should probly do a proper machincs corurce. i mean i can do some things but not other.
i changed the steering rack. well really thats about it on my mini.

you have already started the course........you bought a mini
take it easy when towing though, it wont take much to bend those Tie bars

damn, ended up lashing it around the front of the subframe. my mum though the bars were too weedy to tow with. ah well. bent the body a bit but i don't mind it's all twiseted from were my brother tryed to tow it via the number plate. but now it's at the mechanics.

lol, so she thought a bit of metal, the same thickness as the towrope you're towing with, wont be strong enough? :wink:

hhmmmm, you make a good point there. ah well done now. the rope snapped right at the end as we were pulling into the mechanics. i nearly snapped it early on. but luckly didn't

you can get towing eyes that fit through the front subframe tear drop mounts :smartass:

i ddin't snap them off. my idiot of a brother did. the car was his before he gave it to me because he couldn't sell it.
he got some horrible saxo thing. it's bloody tiny inside.
