I have a bottle jack and its rubbish, I have to muck about jacking the car up twice to get it to the height where I can actually take a wheel off, Ive only had it 18 months and its already leaking fluid and takes an age to pump, I highly recommend a trolley jack, thats going to be my next purchase >_<

I've got an RAC trolley jack rated at 2 tonnes. It came in a kit with 2 axel stands and wheel chocks. Its got a low cup height which is great for getting under the front subby. Some don't go low enough for a mini. I think I got it from Argos!

Also the ramps you drive 2 wheels onto to raise the car, if you need to work under it, are well worth the money too..

I've got 2 of these types of ramps myself. Got given a pair from a friend of my dads who bought them 20 years ago and never used them!!
They weigh a ton but are v strong and its really useful being able to raise or lower the car whilst its sat on the ramps.
