yeah i know what you are saying.

its a fantastic looking pick up that has been personalised and restored to very good standard.

however pls dont consider selling it as is or u will get very little money being offered.
finish it and enjoy it.

insure it for as high an amount as you can afford to pay for the premium and try to get an agreed value.

That's the issue, insurance say no as soon as I say 'Pickup' and '1275'. Even insuring it as a standard 1275 engine is a no no :( Hence why, for the moment it will become a show car. I think I might keep it as a show car for now and put a for sale sign in the window, even if it stays there for a year. I'm not in any hurry, but it would be a shame for it to sit in the garage doing nothing.

Think how many minis are in garages doing nothing. Its not gonna kill any body being their. If anything just take the engine out and put in in another car and just keep it untill you can afford to put the engine back in to insure it.

Trust me you would get more for the car if it restored to original spec including the engine.

:)
joker,
dan you will get an agreed value on this fr £6,000 min!

if i was a mk1 S or even and early van then yea standard i better,
but this is only pickup which only makes it as valuable as the buyer makes it.

there are still lots out there

Vauations are very subjective,

Insurance valuations do not imply market value. The value is what someone is prepared to pay for it - simple.

I have a solid 1976 1275 GT that you could insure on a classic policy or simular. Pretty standard so the insurance will be kind.

We could work out a deal where you keep some of the trick bits off your pickup and work out a deal?

Calling him a "Joker" and using the :withstupid: smiley, that constitutes dis-respect in my book, I would be annoyed if someone posted that after I gave an honest and fair answer. Slyoldfox has a great deal of trading experience and knows what he's on about. I also fully agreed with his comments. If you choose to disagree then thats fine, just choose your words more carefully.

Have you tried footman james
Other member seem to have been quotes of under a grand or so aged 17 even on 1275's....
Worst comes to a worse why not just drop a stage 1 1000 lump in it for the first year and then save the bigger engine for when you can afford the insurace...

Yep, that's another option. As i said in a previous post, i'm just playing with ideas at the moment to see which route is best for me, whether I sell it or keep it but sort something for insurance. We've tried everywhere for insurance, but as soon as i pass my test we're going to try again. Cheers, Dan
