antifreeze is just an inhibitor

No

Antifreeze is antifreeze with addatives such as inhibitors and water weters

I just dropped the bottom hose let it drain out topped it up with water watching for the brown water to turn see through, then add your anti-freeze till water turns blue put pipe back on and job done :smartass: . Lately i found out my thermostat is leaking tho :nugget: need to get that sorted!

Thats like trying to fill a bucket with a large hole in the bottom

The system needs to be flushed through by disconecting the bottom hose then the heater hose and connecting it to the garden hose. Flush it through until it runs clear. I would most deffinately put the bottom hose and heater hose back on before adding the antifreeze for two reasons. Firstly you will not waste any and secondly and more importantly its toxic and should not be put down the drain anyway. Add the required amount of antifreeze, dont water it down but add it neat by the same amout as you would to make the 50% mix in the first place and then top up with water if required. remember that the cooling system will retain much water, particularly in the heater so there may be no need to top up with water.
