So last night I bought this.. (Planning on having at my house by the end of the weekend..)

Specs (at current) are:

Genuine 1275 GT shell 1979 on a 'T' reg
1.4 rover K series 16 valve engine (SPi)
Watson's Subframe kit, including coil springs, spax front shocks, and alu rear spacers.
Front running gear from a metro GTi
SPi tank
Metro steering column modified to fit
Bulkhead mod to take the clutch cable (fitted and working)
Part wired with complete Metro loom.
One piece glass front complete with lights, indicators etc.
New rear subframe with recon radius arms and minifin drums
Metro Spi Alloys
Recliner (recaro style) bucket seats with subframes

Still to do:
Gear linkage
Brakes
Fuel lines
Finish Loom
Exhaust
Radiator

As far as i'm aware the shell is solid (except the scuttle) but has been standing for a while now outside under a cover, and looks like it will need enough work to get it to be a nice solid shell.

Plan is to sort out the shell first, then hopefully sort out a slightly bigger engine.

Well I might get it running very badly like not tidy up the shell and stuff..

See how it goes then decide what engine and sort everything else out! :)

You need to turbo this next! Very decent motors to turbo.

My first thought was, white with a black roof! But its a long way off! lol

Not at the age of 19! lol I doubt insurance will like it as a 1.4 let alone anything bigger or with a turbo!

I'm going to attempt to blag another Rover 214 (I think, it might be a bigger engine) as an extra donor car for any more parts I need :)

Firstly after looking at the roof again its not as bad as what I first thought, There are a few bits but nothing that would require replacing a roof i guess..

Wheels, which i'm not a great fan of! (Am i right in thinking that there metro GTi wheels?)

Few other areas of rust..

Tops of the door shuts (Easiest just to weld small patches over?)

Dreaded Scuttle, well gone..

And i've already had a bad start.. Took the shocks off and one of the bushes got stuck on the bolt! :mmkay:

Well, the scuttles are my first target! After having a small probe with a chisel, screwdriver and my angle grinder It slowly revealled more..

But the windscreen came out well easy!

Nice project, looking forward to seeing more. Liking the metro steering column, I've thought about using a column with a UJ in it to adjust the wheel angle, not came across one until now though.

if your feeling a real fetish for speed they did a 2.0 Turbo K Series aswell but there all in rover 200's and stuff like that cause Rover Nuts Love Em get about 300+ BHP
