we've been round this once before, and eventually contacted the tyre manufacturers....

FAQ - Tyres and wheel rim widths, What the manufacturers say.

Therefore this is the official recomendation of TMF, anything else is at the risk of the owner, but bear in mind......

If you were in an accident and the cause was determined as an inappropriately fitted tyre beyond manufacturer specification, then you would be liable, and also dropped like a ton of bricks by the insurance firm.

At this point I was tempted to close the topic... but have left open for comment.

Tyres for the road need to be DOT marked and if this is not on the side wall then its for off road use only

I wouldnt fit 008s as I think they are pants! They are terrible in the wet. Id fit the 032rs which are slightly softer which will help you in this mater. Ive got the same problem as you as mine are 7.5 inches wide. Heres a pic anyway
