Hi, i went to view this car today. I am a novice with these cars, so as much help you can give me will be appreciated

Its a Rover Mini cooper 1991.
66,000 miles with 13 MOT's to prove milleage.

It comes with a custom trailer(see pics) that matches the body work and wheels of the car.

The car was resprayed 6 years ago, but on the very top of the doors the laquer is atrting to peel away.
There is slight cracking on the paint work of the trailer.

The body seems to be in very good condition, the usual places like arches, under the light etc are almost rust free.
In the drivers foot well there is some rust, about 20cm long by 10cm wide. It seems to be caused by a leak, as under the carpet of both sides it is damp. The passenger has not yet started to rust.
The interior is in very good condition.
The gearstick seems loose when moving side to side, it feels as if the spring that centres it has failed.

How much would you say this is worth.
Thanks Rob

ok thanks. He wants £4.5k. But due to there being parts of the car that need attention i thought what you said would be fair for it.

Anyone else have a valuation for this

Yeah, not more than £2750 i would say. Mines pretty much exactly the same. Same colour, same year, same wheels, but bodwork is A1 with no rust and mileage was 40K and it has perfect paint etc and i paid £3k - over its true value but it was bought of my local mini specialist and i didnt want to haggle. With the rust and shabby paint thats what i would offer.

Just take along a mini mag and show him the classifieds section (only if theres a car of similar cond. for a lesser price mind :) )

Then say 'iv gone to a local mini specialist who've quoted me x amount of money to do the work needed to get it looking decent again, so id be willing to offer you this much.

Hes got to be having a laugh at 4.5K. It needs to be turbo'd or something really special for that much in my opinion - even with the trailer which probably adds about 4-500 quid to the overall value.

Looks like a nice car.. but do check under that lovely paint for filler and grot (take a magnet wrapped in a duster and try to 'stick' it to all lower parts of the bodywork!

Those Billy big wheels look lairy enough, but bear in mind if you wanted to swap back to proper wheels (which you may...) then a fair bit of that front wing has been hacked away and those Sportspack arches look silly with original wheels. Removing those will leave nasty holes/ paint damage. Just food for thought really.

The trailer adds little to the overall value- it's a nice thing, but do you really want it?

The gearstick is not meant to self-centre, it's just how Minis are!

How much would that be worth ? £500 ? You could sell it, but I can't see who'd want one. A little pretentious I think.
