You can produce more power than you can use with a 5 porter. It might be interesting, but I'd say the money would be better put in to making the gearbox & bottom end handle what power you have.

This - Conversion Kit
plus
This - Cylinder Head
Of course adding in the bottom end and the turbo....actually looks quite expensive. If you haven;t looked already, 16v Mini Forum will give you a good idea. They're the experts!!

Actually if you do the maths the 7-port is much cheaper than the K100 conversion.
Yes you can get more power than is needed with a 5-port turbo, but the 7-port allows the fitment of fuel injection, which is a massive advantage in optimising performance.
IMO, if you are going 7-port, buy the SC one not the Pierce one (that's MED and others). There is at leaset one 7-port turbo I know of, maybe otheres.
The other advantage of the 7-port over the BMW heads, is better choice of cams and cheaper exhaust manifolds, plus it's a much simpler conversion.

You say you want to have fun at Pod, what times are you aiming for? Some engine configurations might suit better than others for the times vs reliabilty you require.

Yes 7 port Turbo has been done & there are a few others under development. My head's been ordered & I'll be doing the conversion myself over winter.
