I'm thinking about converting to a 1400 turbo. Has anyone done it and is there anything to look out for?

They didn't do a K Series Turbo

They did the T Series what is the turbo version and if i remember right they where 1600+

the MG Rover Forum for best information on these engines, ive got alot of stuff about the k series also knowing that you got have a lot of piston crank con rod, block, cooling system & head work done to run a turbo on it, its so much easier to get a T Series and use that with in the mini :goaway:.

hes getting the 1400 turbo off of evo's build.

that engine has had about 6 years worth of trials. but, it was a proper toy.. theres a few youtube vids with 1/4's and one short road vid.

T16 lol but it was a 2ltr, but as you say the K was never turbo'd as standard, so i didn't know if he had found somebody developing one off the shelf

this is a gold mine regarding turboing the K,

Dont go for the 1.8, the 1.4 is pretty bombproof with a few simple mods, its all in the link.

The amount of work involed in turboing a K series you need

Uprated crank (harded & cross drilled will help)
Uprated Conrods
Loads of head work (valves, guides, followers)
Piston upgrade
Oil Pump upgrade
Head Gasket Upgrade
Disel Gear box (standered wouldn't handle the turbo)

and they didn't turbo the K seires

it was the T Seires they Turbo'd Hense the "T" series engine

As for the amount of work involved all depends how much boost you want to run

they did turbo the k series... you dont need all that crap.. evo has proven that with a 400 ish hp 1.4 running std internals and minimal head work.

read 16v mini forums. and rovertec.
