Heres mine; its slightly higher at the rear. This is about as low as you can go for the road IMO. Mine scrapes the arches over big bumps and dips and also when driving with 3 people in it ans you hit a bump.

Apart from that its fine and doesn't look too high either:

Most cars will handle better when lowered, just because it lowers the centre of gravity and generally can help reduce body roll.

Although lower it too much and you'll have no suspension travel before your wheels scrape your arches or you hit the bump stops. You'd then to have your suspension really firm to stop it bottoming out and that can make the car pretty skittish over bumpy ground.

A lot of people run their minis much lower than mine with maybe a 5-10mm gap between the wheel and arch, but I don't know how because like I said, mine still scrapes over rough bumps and with passengers and I have probably a 25-30mm gap.

As low as i dare go!

Some speed bumps are still a no no! And i cant/dont take anyone in the back!

Regarding your shocks question - I definitely needed the lowered shocks on the rear. I also fitted lowered shocks to the front, but i was sort of border line in terms of the shock being fully open and fully closed between the standard shocks and the lowered ones. I got gaz shocks

I spose Huey is quite low now. The lowest part of the exhaust is about 7cm from the ground.

mine is 2 fingers between wheel and wheel arch - had it lower when I bought it... but was too low, still grounds on some speed bumps....

its not a bad ride, and can take a bit of weight before losing some of my arches on my wheels!

I think too low will need some alterations to exhaust hangings and wheel arches to stop and scrapes...? and probably most sensibly, a sump guard? which makes me think... I REALLY need to get one...!!

Round here those rear clamp bolts would ground & have Vini's exhaust off in no time!

mine is lowered, the rear isnt as low as i want though because the arches need tubbing to stop them rubbing.
