most people I know with a 998 said they've had it off the clock (past 90) but as above, top speed will be affected by a lot of factors

Main thing that affects the top speed of the mini is the width of the road as you rattle from side to side, and the amount of damage your spine can take.

My uncles standard 998 does 85 quite easily (dunno if hes tried harder) , dunno where your all getting 100+ from.

if some of the claimed top speeds are true the there should be a hell of a lot of 16v/turbo minis that must be capable of 150+mph!!

Good grief the crazies are out in force tonight!!

My 1015cc elf, with 50BHP at the wheels will(on a private test track) do about 95mph(the same as a 1275), a standard (ish) 998 will do about 80-85 tops.

How on earth people are arriving at 100mph+ is unreal!!

tbf a mini with 197 bhp would hit 150 np

my 998 stage one with a hif 44 went 115mph... felt like it was going to die...
