Basically the cost and performance will depend on what engine you use and what spec you decide to build it too.

If your building yourself and using a standard shell and an R1 engine then you'll probably be looking at about 8-9000ish.

R1 should give you a 0-60 of around 4.5 secs.

And insurance will depend on age, don't even think about it if your under 18, and I think you'd be lucky to get a decent price if your under 21. Saying that, Ade's R1 is only a 998.

Insurance wise i'm paying £350 fully comp with guaranteed value of £15000. It's insured as a kit car and i'm 35. My mate who's 19 is paying £1300 without guaranteed value.

He's 16. Don't even consider it matey unless you win the lottery. Aswell as being 16 money income isnt going to be much, and a Z-Cars kit costs lots, and excludes the engine.
On top you have insurance. Having a 998cc engine, insurance is pricey.
Having a motorbike engined kit car is going to be stupid!!

It isnt brain science

unless you do what Ade did! Phone up and tell them it's a 998cc Mini, with the 998 engine taken out of the front, and a 998 engine put in the back!

I am sure Ade will have told them that it is a bike engined conversion and they know exactly what it is!

Just like my insurance company did, i made sure they knew everything that had been done so that there were no excuses for them not to pay up in the event of an accident.

Your absolutley right Dale! I don't want to run any risk of them not paying out if anything should happen! :saywhat:

They know exactly what it is and I also have a guaranteed value of £15000
