I agree Bungle, but there should also be an explanation in the thread. One should not happen without the other.

Do you mean like this:

i recieved this....

" have closed this for now, until it can be cleared up, as its getting spammed heavily at the moment."

and to be honest it was... people on here dont have an open mind at all... im sure someone could find something they like about it... but no just because its a bini its all negative..

The thread wasn't deleted. It was made invisible to give the moderator time to get on top of the spam spiral, if you don't stop people posting it's normally impossible to get in front of the wake of spam. I know, I've been there.

Plus, when that happened to me, I did explain what was going on in the thread and I got about ten PM's insulting me for doing my job (which I do for nothing, in my spare time) so I don't particularly blame the moderator who made that topic invisible so they could sort it out.

You also need to be patient. if it closed indefinitley the original poster would get advised why. If not then it would be actioned and then reopened. Both of which are discussed before anything happens. Having a go at the staff who are volunteers is not fair.

well not being funny or anthing, but perhaps you should ease off of the over moderation abit then and just let people say what they want within reason. I mean it is a forum at the end of the day, you got to take what ever people thing of the subject that is posted

All this could have been avoided with a simple message that the thread was being closed for...whatever time you needed. The mini forum team have an identity that is just the team so that members would still not know who closed it and could not send nasty messages.

There was a user using a sock puppet account to purposely start an argument. which needed to be sorted before you all got your freedom of speech. Now, arguing with the staff over a thread that has been sorted and reopened is a little bit pointless don't you think?

The Thread originator was advised! have a read through the posts above. We will not pm everyone on the thread as that is just rediculous. As for the work, the entire thread was set to invisble in order for the work to be done and that is our perogative to do so.

if you were part of the team though would you not get a bit ******* off with people posting replies which are just causing arguements and then everyone just having a big arguement over opinions that are all meant to be different? i know i would just get ******* off and some threads would just get deleted no notifications on the thread just a pm sent to the starter and that would be it and sending harsh messages to the team is going a bit far, theyre just doing their jobs to try make it a more friendly forum

A simple message could have been put on the closed thread for a minute or so, then the work done. Adding words like "and that is our perogative to do so", do you really think that helps the situation? To the masses it says "..... you we do what we like.

I know you guys do a lot of work under pressure but 30 seconds thought before an act would save you so much.
