Any more news on this project James. I would be interested in getting a self fab frame kit from you. Cheers, Alex.

Hi

I have decided to sell my subframe, i wont get time to finish it, I have the shafts, engine mounts, alternator brackets made, looks spot on. No disrespect to any ones work but its one of the stronger designs. I built it for rallying. I also have a CG13 for it.

This includes the cg13 engine, shortened gearlinkage ecu, everythis u need

Check out irishminis.ie - projects - retro rally car
This is ready to bolt in

750euro plus shipping for the lot

it cost me 85pound or something like that to ship the engine over at the time

Contact me on 00353879061454 anytime

Joe

i know this seems to be an old thread but I'm interested in the subframe kit that james was talking about.
seems like you could start making money from this.

Work is hopefully going to restart over Christmas, I've been away from home at uni since September. I should be able to make some progress on the car as of next week though...

As with all things Mini there is always more rust to deal with. It is close and my subframe will come out this weekend. Ive got an engine crane now too which will speed things up. I'm interested to know if people have preferences with regards to design, be it box section/tubes or welded plates?

Posting to keep this topic alive. The Micra 'S' conversion is possibly on the cards for me some time.

What happened to the 10 threads in 'mini chat' about someone asking how much people would pay for a micra subframe to be made?

I presume you're being sarcastic. Duly noted.

Just read through all this, if they're still going to/ are being made. I'd be up for a full frame, ready to use (my fabrication skills are yet to be discovered :shy: )..

No, I wasn't being sarcastic at all. All ten threads were removed and there's no trace of them on the forum. I thought they would have been merged because there was a fair few replays in a couple of them. But no, all gone.

I am about to start FEA testing the design and comparing it to the original subframe. When this is done I will start building the prototype and getting it fitted and running in my car. With all the issues sorted out I will be able to work out if selling them is viable. So far it is looking promising but they aren't going to be peanuts, the subframe alone is going to be a few hundred pounds with the driveshafts etc costing more. The frames would be ready to fit though with only very limited fabrication needed.
