evening boys and girls,

having a clear up of a couple of mini heads to release some funds for my project.

first up is an 850 head, recently refurbished, stripped and cleaned, new valve stem oil seals, valves lapped in and re-painted in bmc green, basically ready to roll £65

second up is from what iv researched is a rare 1300 cooper s head. head number is AEG163. now I bought it totally stripped, and I'm not kidding its brand new never used, new old stock, still has the original paint in the bores and on the top, ill also post some pictures of inside the waterways which is an easy way of telling if its new or not as therell be lots of rust in there, at least definite signs of corrosion and there isnt, just casting marks, the guy I got it from bought it years ago as he loved modding his minis and had all sorts, now he bought this head complete but in bits, its got brand new valves which are 36mm inlets and 31mm exhaust, double valve springs, bronze valve guides and 11 stud.
thes pics here are form where I am at the moment, I'm currently putting it together, repainted it blue as to what it would have been, not the exact colour but it cleans it up, had the face just surface skimmed to clean it up, have lapped the valves in and just awaiting the arrival of my valve stem oil seals. if you have anymore questions feel free to ask me.

as regards price, I'm not overly sure to be totally honest. have been looking around and minisport do a very similar spec'd head for £700 but id expect nothing like that, probably somewhere in the region of 450 though but open to offers or even more info on the head. it would make an excellent head though for a good staged mini!

thanks for looking

the casting number is 12g940, but it is the same shape as yours, unless they used the same cast, but with different numbers?

they did have a 940 head in an early cast like yours but it was only a 1275 casting this might tell you more http://www.somerford.....Cooper S).pdf

the aeg163 is a very sought after head so good luck with the sale mate, it would be nice to have.

looks like you got the better head then baker! i knew it was similar to the 1 i got, with the flat top, id hang onto it for a few more years, something like that can only go up in price (especially one thats never been used! :D )
