If anyone is interested i have a fibre glass mk1 bonnet with mk3 hinge mounts for sale. Its a really good fit and allows you to still use the existing hinges instead of pins.

Message me for pics/details etc.

Someone did the rear lights on mine so I added the grill and number plate hanger to stay like a mk1

Where can you get the mk1-2 (is it) number plate hanger i love the look of it!!! do these ones actually flip down or are they static ??

They actually flap down, the idea was so that you could carry more in your boot by leaving it open! but had problems with fumes getting into the cabin, hence the deletion of the number plate holder on mk3 onwards.....

yeh i knew about the flapping down and getting more in boot, although i never heard about the fumes being why they were discontinued.
just wondered if there is a fake look alike you could buy, so if i wanted one i could get it or would i have to use a geniune mk1-2 numberplate?

Cheers

Minispares sell the number rear plate back new. Not that expensive. There's sometimes some originals on ebay. Also I see there's a conversion on ebay, lower half of boot lid to weld in & hinged plate holder. I considered doing a MK1 copy a while back so had a look around at all the options.
