right a small update.

i let the misses loose on the spare today, armed with a brush and some hammerite.

the original plan was to paint just the groove red, mainly because it was really difficult too spray (the white) in there without getting really bad over spray on the rest of the wheel.

so the red hammerite was going to cover any areas which were sprayed thinner than others.

and so it began, the misses and her ultra steady hand.

it was really difficult to get the edge nice and smooth and therefore a consistant width.

so it gradually got wider :)
Posted Image

until we had to mask the edge, which was even more difficult to do being round and all.
Posted Image

dont worry about the fact it looks super messy. weve gone over the masking all the way round.
weve left it to dry and we'll see how it looks in the morrow.

its only the spare :)

You could try these....I've seen them on lots of motorbikes when it went "cool". You can get various colours (including red) in various thickness.

Ebay link - Wheel tape

Scooter tape is in your size....

An idea.

it was too difficult to paint mate.

i let the misses keep playing, and this is how its finished up.

she said shes not getting involved with the mini anymore or having anymore ideas because its always too difficult :)

i think the rest can stay totally white, that rally look. keep it nice and clean.

thanks but even the misses isnt sure, shes worried that she's Pee'd me off by "ruining" a wheel.

its only the spare so it doesnt matter to me, hence why she was aloud to do it in the first place.

i only have 4 yokos and they will be going on the other 4 wellers.

I don't think it looks too bad mate, might look cool if you only had one wheel with it on out of the 4.

Just read from the beggining and i must say good effort! With the pinstipe a lot of it is to do with the brush and looks like you had the wrong sort, i liked the idea of a weller sat on a record deck spinning! Lol i would have a play with that red paint, i love when people drizzle? Paint over things and you have streaks and splodges all over lol

just a few more pics for you hungry folks,
just thought id add another coat of red to try and get an even finish.

they look ok from a distance but up close im not so sure.

Posted Image

im actually quite liking it, but not enough to do all the wheels the same.
Posted Image
as you can see the edges are really difficult to get even.

ill laquer them when i get back of hols and then they can go on! :)

Try fitting the wheel to the rear of your mini jacked up. make something to hold the brush and spin the wheel to get a straight (curved) line :)
