Try fitting the wheel to the rear of your mini jacked up. make something to hold the brush and spin the wheel to get a straight (curved) line :D

that sounds like hard work :)

Can't wait to see them on mate! going to look goooooood!

they are defo staying fully white with just the decals.
the red rim was the misses idea and even she prefers them all white now

another update, now im back from my jollies i decided to do some more. (before i loose drive and never finish them)

so its on with the laquer on the face of the wheels.
i hope your ready for some more amazing pictures folks?? ( i cant here you) *does hulk hogan impression*
1 coat,
Posted Image

2 coats,
Posted Image

3 coats,
Posted Image

4 coats,
Posted Image

and 5 coats,
Posted Image

then like a right royal door knob, i was checking to see if the wheel was dry enough for the final and 6th coat, and i put my finger straight through all the layers, :xxx:
Posted Image
the mark is quite noticable, but at this point theres really nothing i can do. > :(
im hoping i'll pass it off as mud/road muck.

here it is from a little further away,
Posted Image

anyway the 6th and final (on one of the nicer wheels :D )
Posted Image

and as has become customery in this process a picture of my nans carpet
Posted Image
Posted Image

i didnt bother laquering the wheel with the red ring on it, so if worse comes to worse the red can be stripped off and it can be finished in white. :genius:
i think the decals from roofless are looking good. :highfive:

a big shout out to my nan for putting up with my constant "in and outing" of here house and endless offers for drinks, oh and putting up with a house that now smells like laquer. (shes awesome).

anyway ill update this when the wellers get wrapped in some nice grippy yoko rubber.
then when they go on the car.

any questions ask away...
until next time... :yinyang:

the penultimate update in this project,

BREAKING NEWS

the wellers and yokos have been down the greasy oil soaked aisle, and are now im overjoyed to announce joined in unholy tramac ruining matrimony.
Posted Image

i asked the guy to fit longer than standard valves so they poke out a bit more ;D a bit more length and poke is always going to be useful
Posted Image

however there are a few small dings in the paint nothing major. But im going to have to give them a little touch up and re laquer them.
this one is on the inner circle,
Posted Image
same wheel minus flash,
Posted Image

and a different wheel so you can appreciate the size of the marks,
Posted Image

im going to make sure they are water tight tomorrow as i dont want water to get under the paint after all this hard work. Then, they will go on the car, dont worry i'll make sure the tyres are nice and black.

i even like the wheel weights :gimme: , i asked him to use the stick on ones instead of the ones that crimp onto the out edge. You can see them between the spokes
Posted Image

so its touch them up, get them on the car (ready for stanford this sunday), and get the car tracked so the yokos last a little longer ;D .

photos once they are on will follow later this week.

let me know what you think.

until next time, happy mini-ing.

ive cleaned all the tyre sealant off the tyres, so they are noce and black again.

touched up to scuffs from the tyre fitting/balancing machines.

i was going to put them on today, but time was marching on and, if im honest, im a little scared.
im worried that my efforts arent good enough and they'll flake straight away...

anyway, im planing to wash the car tomorrow ready for stanford, then whack the new rims on onces its clean.

so tomorrow is Dday i guess.

WAYHEY!

the Wellers are finally on, a whole 9months after i started this thread and almost a year since i bought them.

i eventually got over not wanting to put the pretties on the car, i really dont want to damage or scuff them, but they look awesome.

heres a few pics of the touch ups, mentioned in the previous post. thanks very much tyre fitting machine!

BEFORE

and AFTER

not bad in my eyes, you'd never know it was there. the eagle eyed will still be able to see it. (its now a slight bulge).

this is how the car looked before with the minilites, never to look the same again.
Posted Image

the yokos fill the standard arches really well, but these will be getting changed once i pick up my new ones from Bec at Stanford.

heres how the extra half inch makes a huge difference, we all know its true.
Posted Image
and from a slightly different angle
Posted Image

the otherside,

hopefully you like my super rare and expensive valve caps?? :-

unfortunately no full side on shots as the drive was blocked and it was raining anyway. :P
ill post them up tomorrow when she comes out for a spin.

one problem i came across was something i hadnt thought about. once i started tightening the nuts the laquer around the holes started to crack. (due to all the layers of paint and laquer it was quite thick where the studs come through).
id recommend putting nuts in the holes during the paint process, so the nuts can seat without damaging the paint.

old wheels will be up for sale soon (once i find out how much they are worth).

any comments??? (all welcome).

Wahoooo, they look great you've really done a good job . As for the dustcaps; if only my budget would stretch to a set like that  , mind you knowing my luck they'd get knicked anyway.

PS: Get that exhaust polished :P
