this car still holds the record at harewood hillclimb and has done for 13 years, <up to 1400cc modified road>
even with todays 8 ports, twin cams, seven port minis even 16v minis cannot touch this 5 port engine.
wow what a car what a driver. mathew pinder.
i know its not a mini but i think its wright to have a mention.

I did well setting up that car and spacing the engine build.

I was talking to him the other day and he was thinking about buying it back.

The problem is it is about 250kg too heavy.

A different version. The fun bit is at the end.

I took part in a TVR round there a few weeks ago, shouldn't of taken my last run as I tried too hard to improve my time and ended up in the tyre wall :( was a second quicker before that point though...

I was competing the same year as the vid in the Don  but in 5 port  format  in touring cars, the red mini belonged to  Ben Butterfield , he moved up to mod prod in 97 I think when I built  a lightweight for the  same up to 1400  modified class .  first   event in 98 was my last ,but plans are a foot  for a return

I think Ben is now driving Porsches.

Look forward to your return.

But I shall have to watch from afar. Can't see me back at Harewood any time soon.

But looking to hit some of the Hills out here in Germany. But they seem to be so long I might have to change the fuel tank.
