A pint is quite a lot, it depends on when you last topped it up, how many miles ago?
There is no telling how long a used heater will last. Not too bad if you can replace it yourself, but if you have to pay someone, its more expense and could turn out to be more than a new one. Try the motor factors or your local radiator repairs (Sercks?) for a quote.

I wouldn't bother with a second hand matrix, for what they cost your better off fitting new if only for piece of mind if nothing else. I had a similar problem on mine a few months back and a friend gave me a replacement matrix (brand new), it took about an hour to fit and solved the problem perfectly
