Don't bother -it's not worthwhile worrying about it. It may have an 'unleaded' head on it anyway - but just open up the exhaust valves to 15 thou gap, inlets at 12 thou, and check reset every 3000 miles or so.

But to go U/L, just buy a Metro 998cc head, much easier then getting new valve seats ut in yours.

Mines a 1984, lead head 998, I've had it 5 yrs, probably cover 40,000 miles or more. All I do is stick a bit of additive in, not even every fill up. I reckon the engines done 90,000 - 100,000 miles still going well , did head gasket change about 18 month ago everything looked fine with the head.

I use Redex additive which may just be snake oil but makes me feel Im doing something, and like said no problems.

When it does come to rebuild time, I'll probably change to a 12g295 or 12g940 anyway.

Yes. It cannot be a Red Hot and E reg. If its Red hot, its unleaded. If its E reg, I dint see how it can be a Red Hot.

Red Hot and Jet Black were a 1988 Limited Edition. Lots are E reg (1 Aug 1987-31 Jul 1988).

Mine on the other hand is a 1986 Mayfair with Red Hot interior and decals - it's not a genuine Red Hot.
