could be very interesting for alot of people on here, they specialise in resto parts, and classic and kit car parts.

Why do they only have black gauges? Where can I find a magnolia one like this? I've seen the gauges with digital screens for the odometer, but say the speedo is electronic as well. Since I'm putting it into a VTEC conversion I'd like this kind. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

I've seen that page, but since they never show the backside of the gauge I have no idea if it's cable or wire driven. I'd rather not get a speed sensor if there's another version of this speedo that takes a wire right off the motor. Sorry if I'm sounding dense, I'm just trying the cleanest build possible and don't want to buy unnecessary adaptors.
Thanks,
Rich

It looks like they run off magnetic sensors http://chrome-extens.../pil077-582.pdf there is a driveshaft kit that you could rig up if you can't fit a gearbox drive.
It looks like Hondas changed from gear driven to hall effect sensors about 2000. It's possible it'll work with either (Smiths claim it can be driven with hall effect, the gear driven option might also be, but is probably magnetic. You'd have to figure the wiring and pulses/revs ratio.
http://www.16vminiclub.com would be a good place to look or ask.

I used them quite a lot on my Cobra build - not the cheapest but worth having their catalogue to hand.

Thanks all! It's a bit tougher to find info here in the states since I can't just walk into a shop or find very many other Mini owners around. I'm trying to follow the rules of the forum in regards to where to post and in searching for topics before creating new ones (which is why I've dredged up this post from 2011) but I've been posting updates and questions in the Honda swap project portion of this site and it doesn't get very much attention. If you have a suggestion for another place to post my questions (seen in my sig link) I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks y'all!

When you say taking a wire "right off the motor". Which motor are you talking about?I've seen that page, but since they never show the backside of the gauge I have no idea if it's cable or wire driven. Wherever the speedo sensor comes from on a D16 Honda engine.
