The way I see it is with the more modern running gear, more powerful engine and negative earth electrics, it’s a 66 mini in looks but would be easer to live with and maintain.

Besides have you ever seen the cost and availability of hydro parts when something goes pop? Plus you’ll also find a lot of the original 66 suspension and engine parts aren’t cheap or easy to get hold of as well. In a way its all part of the cars previous history, besides it’s not like its unheard of people swapping engines, subfames and making later cars look older…

Plus if the running gear WAS still original it would be on drums all round anyways. At least now all you have to do is bolt on a pair of callipers and disk and you good for 10’s. As apposed to having to swap complete hubs, drive shafts etc, etc.

So in my eyes a pair of callipers, disks, flanges, set of wheels and a centre speedo and as long as you don’t open the bonnet who’s to tell, all is not original under the bonnet. But then I’ve always looked at minis as something to drive and not to be locked away in a garage.

the wipers should be from left to right too.
