Cheers, I don't think it will because I doubt a hiab could fit on the drive but they could drag it onto the road I suppose

a similar story happened to my partners dad he 's re building the house gypsy were looking around @ the end of the drive every night. neighbour saw them get the courage to drive onto the drive one night load up the van with things out the garden taking as much metal as poss.
then a few times a week still checking up on the house. UNTIL he bought 2 caravans to live in temporarily in the rear garden since then there has been rads baths pipes the lot piled up @ the front un touched our guesses were they thought there one of them lol .

also round my area the police know about these goings on + the theft of cars though they do little about it even when they know the culprits in my opinion the police seem to be scared of going there sites to investigate

I cleaned out the garage today...loads of old bits and bobs..all metal, I took it all down to my local scap merchants and there was 86kg...He gave me £15 for it.....It was only old drums and odd cuttings from various bits of metal i was welding....So beware folks...with the price of scap metal being what it is just now....nothing is safe.

This week British Gas fitted a new hot water cylinder/tank in my house, leaving the old one by the road at the end of my drive for one of their approved contractors to come and collect. I even remarked to the fitter that their contractor had better be quick, as I really couldn't imagine £50 or so's worth of scrap copper to be sitting there for very long!

To my amazement a whole 3 days and nights passed before the contractor finally showed up and bizzarely the copper tank was still sat there by the road completely undisturbed!! So what's going on here??... are the "nomadic type scrap metal dealers" around here particularly law abiding, or are they just not very efficient??
