As I'm flipfronting my clubby estate, a tidy engine bay is a must (hence powdercoated subframes etc)
but is there anything that shouldn't be painted or polished for any reason?

Not a good idea to paint the radiator with heavy paint
as any paint will decrease the cooling efficiency
Try keep paint away from moving components ie bearings etc.. and also rubber gaskets etc, other than that it is all go..

nice colour that green. I've used an Engine Enamel that you brush on. The excellent thing is that because it's enamel it smoothes out and hence no brush strokes. It costly at £16 a small tin, but i've done a head, a block both with 3 coats and haven't got down half way yet. From Frost made by POR-15.
I used this stuff too! Excellent stuff, really nice finish, have to make sure that the block is clear of grease/oil/dirt before starting then paint away!
