more likely is a chain looped through the doors and lifting the car with a crane/hi ab. the front window is smashed which is usually a result of this.

trust me, seen this loads when recovering stolen and dumped vehicles.

might not have, it will only bend at a weak point or side with the most pressure or weight if lifted unevenly

i think if it was lifted with a fork lift, the end of the forks be pushing on the inside of the roof outwards. extended forks could be used but if they were and the os door frame bent so much, why didnt the ns door frame?

Ya that seemed to vanish with the vin im hoping i can trace it through engine number its got a 998 wast sure its ment to have a 850

In your position I would try to sort out the registration before spending too much time and money on it. You might find the VIN plate and V5 listed on the 'bay soon and could have a hell of a time trying to get it registered correctly. I'd hate for you to spend a load on it only to find that you can't legally register it.

if someones taken the vin, they have do so to try and apply for the logbook. I wish you all the best trying to recover its v5 and restoring the van. its a gem find, wish i had found it. If you cant get it on the road for whatever reason, id be interested in the van side panels.

So where has the V5 gone - from the early posts it sounded like the scrappy had it but now you say it's gone missing. If that's the case then I'd bet it went with the VIN plates whether they admit that or not and they doubled their money. Registration plates are a start but in the grand scheme of things mean very little unless you can prove that they belong to that van and for that you need the VIN number.

That said I do hope that someone else applies for the V5 at the same time as you and that you both get a visit from an inspector. You of course will actually hae the car to show them - the other person will hopefully just have some difficult questions to answer.

Is the number not stamped on the bodyshell somewhere - I front of the screen in the bonnet gutter I believe ? Anyway - apply for the V5 right away! Of course - you need to believe the plates are the ones for that van. Have you checked on DVLA website??
