Hey Guys Been putting this off for way to long Firstly this is how my car looked the day I got itAttached File  DSCF1514.jpg   122.87K   8 downloads. I started of on the exterior and the car ended looking very much how I wanted itAttached File  DSC00888ab.jpg   733.53K   17 downloads. Anyway as some of you may remember I asked a while back if someone had ever attempted to mount a front loader in the center of the bottom dash rail.Attached File  DSC00132.JPG   133.54K   12 downloads I ended up reshaping a new bottom dash rail out of wood and covering it with leather I also fitted my tweeters in the dash rail which is not ideal so it's a bit form over function. I am very happy with the end resultAttached File  DSC00913b.JPG   207.81K   36 downloads. I also made a new smaller switch panel which I moved to the right of the steering wheel.Attached File  DSC00912b.JPG   88.34K   36 downloads . I also fitted a speedo surround which I customized a bit. I don't have the original gauges that goes with the speedo. When I find some of these I will replace them. Excuse the pics, the flash makes it looks all shiny and very dirty haha. I also made a rear shelf with speakers and I am aware of the problems caused by putting speakers on the "back board" but I made the shelf very thick so there was no need to cut into the back boardAttached File  DSC00916b.JPG   189.73K   34 downloads Also there is two ports so in theory the speakers will be ok and hopefully the ports are big enough to let the bass through Lastly my boot setup consisting of a 10" sub and amp Attached File  DSC00904b.JPG   173.6K   29 downloadsThe other amp is hidden under a panel at the rear passengers feet The head unit i will be installing is a Pioneer in dash dvd flip screen and yes I know this will not be to everyones taste but luckily it's my car hehe Attached File  avh-p5350dvd_rd_rc_ri_green_right.jpg   266.02K   3 downloadsThe remaining to do's is fitting the door mids and also the whole interior will be reupholsteredAttached File  DSC00910b.JPG   199.77K   27 downloads Thanks for looking guys, any questions welcome!

PS These photos were taken at night so are not very good quality Will take a few in sunlight if anyone is interested!

Lovely looking install and car.

Do you, A: have any build pics and B: have a system component list.

Can I strongly recommend that if you haven't already that you put the rear mids in sealed enclosures otherwise the sub has a good chance of damaging them very quickly.

Also as you said the tweeters being on the lower dash rail is not ideal but once you have mids in place you will at least have both high and lower frequencies coming from almost the same location.
Stage hight will suffer but the imaging should be good.

Tell me is there a reason you didn't simply mounted them on the A-Piller?

Hey Ruckus Thanks. I can kick myself but no unfortunately not, I don't have any build pics Mostly because everything was done after hours late into the night with no help You know how it goes. The sub box,sub covers and amp covers was made out of superwood, the amp cover being layered. The rear speakers I can easily put in pods because they are basically already boxed They just need a bottom and they will be sealed because they are also in a layered type back board. I really didn't want to cut into my car so do you reckon the two ports I put in line with the ports that was already in the rear shelf will let the bass through all right? Initially I didn't want to put speakers on the rear shelf but seeing as I already had them I thought I might as well use them! The dash I made using about an inch thick piece of Balsa wood. The same wood used to make model airplanes because its nice and soft and easy to shape I copied the shape of the original dash and added a smaller similar "drop down section" as on the original dash to the right of steering wheel for my new switch panel. To give the dash rail the required depth I screwed a strip of plate from the top. This plate also gave me leading edge used two pin the leather with original chrome molding that came of the original dash Attached File  dash.JPG   13.31K   15 downloads I used the same wood to make the switch panel Shaping it into the basic panel shape, drilling holes for the switches and making a new face plate out of metal plate to house the switches The original chrome surround was shortened and reused. I'll take photos of my templates that I used when making everything.
The reason I put the tweeters on the lower dash was originally I had them in pods that could swivel up but this became to bulky but they looked so good to me on the lower dash that I decided to keep them there. I angled the dash towards me a much as possible so now I can only hope for the best. Recently I found a rubberizing spray that gives an extremely lovely finish to wood, giving it a finish similar to plastic moldings of a modern car interior so I used this on all panels that wasn't covered with either wood or carpet..

My component list is as follows:

Receiver: Pioneer AVH-P5350DVD in dash DVD
Front splits: Rockford Fosgate Power T1652-S
Rear: Rockford Fosgate T152
"Speaker amp" : Audiobank 15oRMS 4 channel
"Sub amp": Rockford Fosgate 300.1
Sub: Rockford Punch 300 W RMS Shallow mount

Lastly, Next to my new switch panel you can see my water temp gauge This nasty one will be temperately hidden there until I can source an original one that will be put next to speedo on it's correct position. Thanx for looking

All very cool work and ideas mate :)

Get those rear speakers boxed ASAP or they will get damaged by the sub, you will lose bass response boxing them, but that what the sub is for. ;)

The ports look ok to handle a single 10, if this was my system I would just have the front comps and use the 4 channel to run active. Then you will have much bigger holes for the sub to breathe.

Where are you based UPT? where is that?
Without even looking at your plate I could tell it wasn't the UK, as Rockford have pretty much pulled out of the UK and i haven't seen a system use there new kit for years.
