Hi everyone.
Whilst under the bonnet to check out why the Mini was running a bit rough (turned out to be loose connection to coil) I noticed there was a nice sized hole in my manifold gasket around the middle exhaust port through which I could see the gasses igniting! I have therefore recently replaced the gasket.
I was wondering if anyone might know why this is happening and if I am able to cure it, as no doubt I will have to replace the gasket again sometime in the future.
Cheers
Middle Exhaust burning my gasket!!

Could be a faulty gasket, poor fitting or distorted manifold.

i had the same problem, was it a cooper freeflow from maniflow?
well i went thru endless amounts of gaskets and i came up with a solution...
buy 2 gaskets, and cut the middle section out of one, and gasket join it to the other.. fixed... no holes.. its where the centre branch dont clamp down right...

MM that sounds like you did not have the correct stepped washers between the inlet and exhaust manifolds, as the flanges are not the same thickness.

Thanks guys!
You may have read my other posts about changing my carbs, so I'll check the flange thicknesses and remedy if necessary.
